WIWU-TV won its fourth Telly award this summer, for a Crossroads segment produced by Division of Communication And Theatre alumnus Stephanie McCracken (Communication Arts, ’05). The Telly Awards gave the station a Bronze Telly in local television production for the 2012 feature story, “Harnessing History” . The segment looked at the legacy of harness racing in Converse, Indiana.
McCracken has served as Community Program Manager for WIWU-TV since 2006, a role that includes producing local shows Crossroads and DayTrippin‘. The station produces over 220 hours of local programming each year focused on the people and places of central Indiana. “On Crossroads we love to tell stories. It was my pleasure to tell the story of Converse Harness Racing and an honor that it was recognized on a national level,” she said.
This is the fourth time WIWU-TV has been honored with a national Telly. The organization’s mission is to honor excellence in local, regional and cable TV and non-broadcast video. A panel of previous Silver Telly winners in this year’s competition judged nearly 12,000 entries from all 50 states and numerous countries. Previous Telly Awards for WIWU-TV included several Crossroads segments and a promotional campaign for IWU Men’s Basketball.
