It is safe to say that there are a lot of people that are sure of what they want to do after they graduate college. But there are some people that have no idea. This was the case for 1996 graduate Mindy Hensley, but God once again proved his faithfulness in the journey that she has been through.
After graduating with a degree in Mass Media Television, she moved out to Nashville Tennessee and met her husband there. They formed the musical group, “Blu” and traveled on the road for four years before starting their family.
Even though it was never planned to be this way, Mindy’s career path took a completely different direction than her major (Mass Media Television). But just because she isn’t doing something with editing or television doesn’t mean that her communication skills are going to waste.
“I know that for me communication is huge when running a business and maintaining employees. I loved my communication classes and feel that what I learned through public speaking and being on and off camera. Even though radio work, i feel like all of it played a vital role in the way that I carry myself today.”
She has also been able to be involved in other communication and theater related activities in their town. “I have been in a play and a musical in the local community theater. I have also been able to create some commercials for our business using a camera and editing equipment from the local high school.
Mr. and Mrs. Hensley are now the proud parents of Zakkary 11, Zane 10, Zoe 9 and Zaylee 7. Mindy is a baker and her husband became a coffee roaster. They are continuing to own and run their coffee roasting company and bakery the “Sozo Coffee Roasting And Espresso Bar” in Iona, MI. The family is planning on many more happy years of service.
