Returning to IWU-Marion

Residential undergraduate campus in Marion, Indiana

We are happy your journey has brought you back to IWU-Marion. This exceptional education and close Christian community has so much to offer.

If you have already been an IWU-Marion student enrolled on a full-time basis, the return process is provided below.

Readmit Steps

  1. Complete the online application.
  2. Submit supplemental items if you have attended another institution since your last enrollment at IWU.
    • Official College Transcripts: Request that transcripts be sent directly to the Office of Admissions from each institution you have attended since your last enrollment at IWU.
  3. Clear any holds on your account as indicated by your admissions counselor.
  4. Once an offer of readmission is made, wait for an email from Registration & Academic Services, which will indicate the next steps.
  5. File the FAFSA and send to IWU (FAFSA code: 001822).
  6. Connect with the Life Calling and Career office to complete the campus housing or commuter application.

How to Clear Holds

A hold can be placed on a student's record for multiple reasons. Below are the common holds on a student’s record:

  • Financial Hold: Often results from an outstanding balance on your student account, unpaid parking tickets and/or library fines.
  • Chapel Hold: Results from an excessive number of chapel absences.
  • Center for Life Calling and Integrative Learning Hold: Often results from a community conduct violation.

When you complete and submit your readmit application to the Office of Admissions, you will be notified if there are any holds on your student record. In most cases, holds are relatively easy for you to resolve. Holds must be cleared with the office that has issued the hold before your application to return to IWU-Marion can be processed.

What If I Have Been Suspended or Dismissed?

Students who have been academically suspended or dismissed must meet the requirements outlined in the IWU-Marion catalog before being considered for readmission to Indiana Wesleyan University:

  1. Attend a regionally accredited college.
  2. Complete 12 semester credit hours of coursework numbered at 100-level or above (not developmental courses) with a “C” or above. (Note: These courses should not include those previously taken at IWU. If readmitted, courses with "C-" or below can only be repeated at IWU, if needed, to improve your IWU GPA.)
  3. Earn a minimum of a 2.2 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale.
  4. Fulfill all other readmission requirements.

Students who have been suspended may reapply after one semester away from IWU. Students who have been dismissed may reapply after two semesters away.

Once you have met these requirements, you are eligible to appeal to the Academic Standing Sub-Committee for approval to return on probation. In addition to the Readmit Formq and college transcript(s), you will need to complete a letter of appeal. The letter should outline what caused your academic suspension/dismissal, why the outcomes will be improved if you are permitted to return, and how you plan to make your next college experience successful. An appeal does not guarantee that a student will be granted permission to return to campus.

If you have been suspended or dismissed by the Life Calling and Career office, you will need to check with them for the terms of your departure and eligibility to return to IWU-Marion.

Returning on Probation

If you were placed on academic probation before you ended your enrollment with IWU-Marion or it is a condition of your return, you will be required to meet with the director of Registration & Academic Services before you register for classes. In some cases, you may be required to take specific courses or meet with the director of the Center for Student Success. These requirements will be outlined for you during your meeting with the director of Registration & Academic Services.

If you have been placed on citizenship probation, you will need to check with the Life Calling and Career office for the terms and requirements.

Registering For Classes

Readmit students are allowed to register for classes once all students who are currently enrolled have had a chance to register for the coming semester. Typically, this occurs near mid-November for spring semesters and mid-April for fall semesters. Students must be registered by the end of the first day of classes each semester. Please check with the Office of Admissions or Registration & Academic Services for exact dates.

If there are no holds on your student record, your readmit paperwork can usually be processed the same day it is received by the Office of Admissions (keep in mind that transcripts need to be sent by the college you attended and not hand-delivered). Once your paperwork is processed and a Permit to Register is issued by the Office of Admissions, you will receive an email from Registration & Academic Services with further instructions regarding the re-enrollment process.
