The Board of Trustees at Indiana Wesleyan University (IWU) invites applications and nominations for the position of president at Indiana Wesleyan University, an independent not-for-profit institution located in Marion, Indiana.

As one of the largest schools in the Council of Christian Colleges and Universities (CCCU), IWU is renowned for its innovation and forward-thinking higher education programs that prepare students to impact the world for Christ. Owned and supported by The Wesleyan Church and the largest of the five Wesleyan schools in the North America (four in the United States and one in Canada), IWU has an extraordinary 100-year-old legacy as a Christ-centered academic community committed to changing the world by developing students in character, scholarship, and leadership.

The Opportunity

The president serves as the senior executive for the University and reports to the Board of Trustees, which is made up of a diverse group of leaders, drawn from the university, business world, and The Wesleyan Church. As a leader in Christ-centered higher education, IWU is recognized for providing a world-class academic experience within a strong, faith-based community. The University has been blessed with stability and longevity in its presidential leaders for over 100 years and as such is seeking an experienced, visionary leader to continue the tradition of innovation and academic excellence at a pivotal and transitional moment in the University’s history.

What’s beautifully unique about the institutional identity at IWU is the rich Wesleyan heritage, which compels the University to take a posture of prayerful obedience, develop relationships steeped in love, and spread the transformational gospel message. Likewise, the president is dedicated to the long-standing Wesleyan faith, recognizing its impact on the campus community and the people they reach and possesses an abiding appreciation of diversity and inclusion.

The new president must help IWU plan for and adapt to significant demographic change. Like many Christian institutions presently, IWU-Marion and IWU-National & Global have been experiencing declining enrollment trends and changing demands in education. As IWU adapts to this changing landscape, the University and Seminary are working to develop an even more studentcentric experience for both traditional students and the large population of online learners around the world. The University believes that this will require a continued commitment to innovation, flexibility, and attention to future trends, as each year brings new challenges and demands to Christian higher education. Enrollment growth across the three academic units are key outcomes in the vision for IWU’s future; as such, the ideal candidate for president will also be eager to continue expanding the community of donors to ensure and maintain financial stability and institutional growth.
