IWU-National & Global is meeting the high demand for qualified educational leaders by launching a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) degree with a major in Educational Leadership, which students can complete online with no on-site residency or travel requirements. This terminal degree will prepare graduates for a role in teaching and administration in P-12 or higher education, educational policy, education/training in businesses, consulting or action research.
“This program offers a unique approach to education by incorporating multicultural responsiveness, global awareness and biblical perspectives in each course,” says Amie Anderson, dean of the School of Educational Leadership at IWU-National & Global. “There are many states where a biblically based doctorate in education isn’t available, and we’re excited to offer an opportunity for people in those states to pursue this degree through a fully online program.”
Through IWU’s Ed.D. program, students can complete their doctorate in just over three years. Enrollees will learn to apply various leadership models in educational environments and conduct high-quality research within their chosen field. Dissertation milestones are built into the coursework, with students using research methods and completing projects that apply to their individual dissertation topics.
IWU’s doctoral program offers a sharp contrast to the “hands-off” approach of many universities by providing a straightforward, uncomplicated educational process. Professors walk alongside students on the journey to achieve their Ed.D., guiding them toward valuable knowledge and skills that will serve them for the rest of their careers.
Demand for qualified leaders in the field of education is growing quickly, with postsecondary teachers seeing a projected employment growth of 8.3% over the next 10 years. Administrators for kindergarten through secondary and postsecondary schools are close behind, with a projected growth of 6.6% and 6.2% respectively. IWU is pleased to meet this demand by bringing a rigorous doctoral degree to students, no matter where they might live. This online program will open doors and expand career opportunities for anyone interested in making an impact in the world of higher education. To learn more about this degree, visit indwes.edu/edd.
