MARION, Ind. (June 17, 2022) — IWU-National & Global is excited to announce the launch of its Life Coaching certificate program, which will prepare students to become certified life coaches through the International Coaching Federation (ICF). The certification is globally recognized and can serve as a stepping-stone to new leadership opportunities or a launching point for a career in life coaching.
“This certificate program is really unique in its versatility,” says Dr. Theresa Veach, an assistant professor in the Department of Behavioral Sciences who was integral to the program’s development. “Students who complete the program will be equipped with highly sought-after skills that will make them more competitive in the job market. They can also choose to pursue full-time coaching, especially after earning their certification through the International Coaching Federation.”
With curriculum based on core ICF standards, the 16-credit-hour program is designed to prepare students to sit for their ICF certification exam. The program can be completed in approximately eight months, and students can choose between a fully online option and a hybrid experience with some onsite elements at an IWU regional education center.
IWU’s Life Coaching certificate program uses hands-on curriculum developed by certified life coaches to prepare students for a diverse set of experiences. Courses include Foundations of Life Coaching, Communicating Effectively and Cultivating Learning and Growth. The program also requires students to complete 60 hours of synchronous training, preparing them for success in completing the coaching certification process.
Life coaching skills have steadily grown in popularity in recent years. From March 2020 to February 2021, there were more than 200,000 job postings that listed life coaching as a desired skill. By launching this certificate program, IWU will equip students to follow a deeper calling to guide, inspire and encourage others in whatever career path they choose.
