MARION, Ind. (May 11, 2022) — The IWU-National & Global School of Nursing is excited to announce updates to its Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) program. Formerly the MSN in Nursing Administration, the new MSN in Health Systems Leadership contains updated content to align better with the nursing industry’s needs.
“This program is the ‘rebirth’ of our old MSN-Nursing Administration program,” Beth Bailey, assistant dean of the School of Nursing, says. “Based on student feedback, market changes, healthcare changes and various other stakeholders’ feedback, we have worked to assemble a superior leadership program that calls nurses to grow professionally, personally and spiritually to meet the high demand for outstanding nurse leaders.”
The MSN in Health Systems Leadership was created for nurses looking to develop their leadership capabilities. The major is designed to train healthcare leaders who will effectively and efficiently contribute to healthcare needs and the future.
Updates to the MSN in Health Systems Leadership have led to updates in several School of Nursing programs, including the Post-Graduate Certificate in Health Systems Leadership, AS Nursing to MS Nursing, MSN - Health Systems Leadership/MBA and MSN/post-MBA.
This program will provide foundational knowledge for nurse leaders,” Bailey says. “It is an essential program to the future of nursing and healthcare.”
The new program will offer flexible scheduling, allowing students to take one or two classes at a time based on how quickly they wish to finish the program. Students will also be eligible for certification in Executive Nursing Practice after completion of the program.
IWU-National & Global sets itself apart from other healthcare leadership programs through its commitment to a culture of care and expert faculty who go above and beyond to support their students. IWU-National & Global also takes a faith-based and holistic approach to education, fostering healthcare leaders who see their role through the perspective of faith and how it will impact aspects of their leadership. Students will set themselves apart through a holistic education that prepares them to lead in a challenging climate.
“I love the knowledge that IWU is positively influencing healthcare by preparing nurse leaders to guide not only units but entire organizations and systems in the provision of safe, caring, efficient patient care,” Dr. Debbie Drake, professor in the School of Nursing, says. “I find great joy in being able to influence future nurse leaders.”
The updated MSN in Health Systems Leadership program launches in Aug. 2022. For more information, visit indwes.edu/MSNHSL.
