Wesley Seminary at Indiana Wesleyan University has been awarded a Pathways for Tomorrow Initiative Phase 1 Grant from the Lilly Endowment.
The purpose of the Pathways for Tomorrow Initiative is to help theological schools strengthen and sustain their capacities to prepare and support pastoral leaders for Christian churches – primarily ordained pastoral leaders and secondarily congregational lay ministers.
Rev. Dr. Colleen Derr, President of Wesley Seminary, said, “Wesley Seminary is thrilled for the opportunity this grant provides to intentionally engage pastors, leaders, and educators from around the globe. We sought to hear their stories of life and ministry impact from the past 18 months and to hear insights on how Wesley can respond to equip Christian leaders and serve the church. Building on what we have heard, Wesley looks forward to finding ways to adjust and adapt to meet the changing needs of these leaders and the ministries they serve.”
The grant amount is $50,000 and will fund the process of institutional assessment and strategic planning that will provide the direction and content of the applications for the Phase 2 Implementation Grant and the Phase 3 Collaboration Grant.
