Indiana Wesleyan University-National and Global’s DeVoe School of Business launched a new online bachelor’s degree in information technology in August 2020.
The program is offered in partnership with Bethel School of Technology, a faith-based technology school that aims to develop students in skill and character through boot camp-like programs. Bethel was recently awarded the Best Value College Alternative Award in April 2021. Bethel is a faith-based online technology bootcamp that specializes in high-demand areas.
IWU’s Bachelor of Science in Information Technology with a specialization in web development is designed to prepare students for web development jobs in the information technology (IT) industry.
“Students have the opportunity to talk with industry experts and engage with individuals working in the web development field. There is also a career piece interwoven that will help students take a look at potential career opportunities,” said Dedra Daehn, director of curriculum and operations for DeVoe School of Business.
Students learn to use current coding languages to bring projects to fruition, build web-enabled applications, develop SQL and NoSQL-based database applications, manage projects efficiently, and more. The program offers a unique approach to IT education that involves faith integration and hands-on coursework in a fully online learning format.
The program takes approximately 20 months to complete and can lead to web developer, webmaster and back end developer jobs.
