Demand is growing for educated, committed individuals working in the field of early childhood education. The Early Childhood Teacher Training certificate is ideal for students who want to start their career or better equip themselves for the job they already have in a childcare or a preschool environment. It can also benefit teachers who are currently working in a K-3 school environment.
This certificate was developed with the working adult in mind—courses are only six weeks long, and the online learning format is flexible with students’ schedules. Additionally, courses can be applied toward earning an associate and/or bachelor’s degree (licensure or non-licensure) in Early Childhood Education.
With multiple service-learning opportunities, students will receive hands-on experience with child development, parental support, community involvement, classroom management and more.
“This program takes the most foundational and effective courses for early childhood education and gives students a crash course and a good foundation,” said Renee Boyer, an assistant professor for the School of Educational Leadership. “Since these courses can also apply to our bachelor program, students can easily continue in the licensure or non-licensure Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education.”
The Early Childhood Teacher Training Certificate will equip students to:
- Build practical knowledge needed for supporting child development
- Create safe, effective and supportive learning environments
- Develop positive, collaborative relationships that support and engage children and families
- Design a content-rich curriculum for students that is developmentally appropriate
- Integrate their faith in their current or future classroom
Courses for the Early Childhood Teacher Training Certificate begin in early 2021. For more information, visit indwes.edu/ECTT.
