Indiana Wesleyan University has announced plans for rescheduling its April commencement ceremonies. Spring graduation was scheduled to take place April 25 but has now been pushed back to Saturday, August 22.
While acknowledging the impact that the coronavirus outbreak is having on students and families, University President David Wright said that he is proud of the way the IWU community is dealing with this crisis. “We are dealing with the dangers,” said Wright, “and we also are looking for opportunities in the future to fully acknowledge the wonderful accomplishments of our graduates. We are going to need a great celebration one of these days.”
Complete details will be forthcoming on times of the various graduation events as University leadership continues to formulate plans. Wright also noted that – given our current climate – it will be important for all to remain flexible and patient. “Holding ‘spring’ graduation on Saturday, August 22nd is our current plan. Plans could change. But let’s pray for, and look forward to, a grand celebration in August!
