Indiana Wesleyan University’s Music Therapy program is proud to maintain a 100 percent career placement rate for those who have completed their internship. Over the past five years, each graduate has landed a job in the field of music therapy, with many being hired by their internship sites.
IWU’s Music Therapy program, established in 2014, is housed within the Division of Music and is fully accredited by the American Music Therapy Association and National Association of Music. The program prepares students to use music and musical experiences to maintain or improve a person’s functioning level in a variety of health domains.
Faculty members within the Music Therapy program are very involved within the field and within the local, regional and national organizations. This allows them to be well informed on current trends in the profession and ensure that their students are as prepared as possible for a successful, lifelong career.
“Music Therapy students leaving IWU are very well rounded,” said Michael Flanagin, chair, Division of Music. “Our faculty has worked hard to secure various clinical sites to make sure that students have an opportunity to experience a variety of populations. Students also have the opportunity to collaborate with other majors that they may encounter in the field, such as occupational therapists and art therapists.”
The Music Therapy program enrolls nearly 50 students, making it the largest major in the IWU Division of Music. For more information on IWU’s Music Therapy program, click here.
