The Indiana Wesleyan University football team is proud to announce it has partnered with IWU Dance Marathon, an event designed to raise money to support Riley Children’s Foundation, the fundraising arm of Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health.
The team of approximately 100 Wildcats has committed to not only attend Dance Marathon, but also to help promote, fundraise and facilitate the event. Three coaches and several players visited Riley Hospital this past weekend. In the fall, the team plans to dedicate a specific game that is centered on the Children’s hospital and the Dance Marathon efforts.
“Our involvement in Dance Marathon allows our players to elevate others’ needs above their own while bringing positive attention to a cause that is very easy to get passionate about,” said Jordan Langs, IWU head football coach. “We look forward to seeing the partnership grow as it provides different ways to connect with citizens of Grant County as well as IWU students.”
IWU Dance Marathon 2019 will take place on March 30 from noon-midnight. Participants will dance for 12 hours straight to raise money for Riley Children’s. Last year, the team raised over $28,000.
“We are excited about the addition of the football team to our Dance Marathon family,” said Tenaya Shull, student president of IWU Dance Marathon. “We believe that the football team will not only give us the opportunity to reach more students and community members but do it with a passion for the kids at Riley Hospital for Children. The entire purpose of Dance Marathon is to be a light for families who have experienced care at Riley, and with the football team will we do just that.”
