IWU ranked No. 5 for "Best Undergraduate Teaching" in Midwest

U.S. News and World Report

U.S. News & World Report has ranked Indiana Wesleyan University No. 5 on its list of “Best Undergraduate Teaching Programs” among regional Midwest universities for being “committed to teaching undergraduate students in a high-quality manner.”

In Spring 2018, U.S News & World Report asked top academics — including university presidents, provosts and admissions deans — throughout the United States to name up to 15 universities and colleges that they believe employ faculty with an outstanding dedication to undergraduate teaching. The colleges and universities that received the most votes were ranked in descending order based on the number of “Top 15” nominations they received. Schools had to receive seven or more nominations to be included.

According to U.S. News & World Report, “These rankings focus on one very important part of the undergraduate academic experience that is not always directly measured in a college’s regular peer assessment survey results or in its overall rank.”

Each year, U.S. News and World Report releases nearly 50 numerical rankings and lists of the “Best College” in several categories, including “Best Value Schools,” “Top Public Schools” and “Top Universities for International Students.”

“We are so pleased that Indiana Wesleyan University is being recognized for our commitment to teaching our undergraduate students,” said David Wright, president of Indiana Wesleyan University. “Our undergraduate professors are truly passionate about changing the world by developing our students in character, scholarship and leadership.”
