Indiana Wesleyan University is prepping to put on its next Friday Night Live (FNL), a bi-annual student-run comedy show, at 8:45 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 2. The show will take place in the Phillippe Performing Arts Center.
FNL has been an IWU tradition for nearly 25 years. The goal of the show is to provide a break from stress to not only students, but also the faculty and surrounding Marion community. The cast finds meaning in fighting a war on stress by laughing about life through cleverly written sketches and silly videos.
This semester, the volunteer cast includes 15 students in addition to many other students who work behind the scenes on lighting, technology, videography, graphic design and more. With six sketches in this semester’s show, the cast began rehearsing at the beginning of September.
“FNL is one of the oldest traditions here at IWU,” said Jonny Rupp, assistant director for community learning: student involvement. “It’s special not only because of it’s heritage, but because of it’s uniqueness. The team is like a family, and they care deeply for their community. They simply want to bring thoughtful comedy to those who attend in a world that can often be intense and stressful.”
Tickets cost $5 and can be purchased online. To purchase tickets, visit www.indwes.edu/events/onstage/events.
