IWU offers credit assessment, tuition discount to Harrison College students

Indiana Wesleyan University, which has a generous transfer policy for adult and online students, has announced that it will offer a tuition discount and assess all credits for Harrison College students who are left searching for options after Harrison College announced on Friday that it was shutting down its academic operations.

To help Harrison College students impacted by the private, for-profit university’s recent closure complete their degrees, IWU has agreed to assess all Harrison College credits that were earned after 2009 for 100-level or higher courses for which the student earned a grade of “C” or higher. In addition, IWU will allow individuals who hold a bachelor’s degree from Harrison College to seek enrollment in a graduate program at IWU-National & Global per identical considerations as bachelor’s degrees from regionally accredited institutions

IWU-National & Global is also offering Harrison College students a 15-percent tuition discount on associate and bachelor’s degrees offered through IWU’s College of Adult and Professional Studies and on the RN-BSN degree program through IWU’s School of Nursing. Nursing pre-licensure and transition to nursing programs offered through IWU-Marion are also included. Students must enroll by March 31, 2019 to receive the discount.

Students interested in completing a degree at the IWU-Marion campus may apply for scholarships and financial aid.

To further assist Harrison College students, IWU has scheduled informational fairs at its education centers in Fort Wayne (8211 W. Jefferson Blvd., Fort Wayne, Ind.), Indianapolis-North (3777 Priority Way South Drive, Indianapolis, Ind.) and Columbus, Ohio (3455 Mill Run Drive, Suite 550, Hilliard, Ohio):

  • 9 a.m. – 4 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 22
  • 6 p.m. – 9 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 25

At each location, there will be academic advisors on hand to counsel students as well as IWU employees from the evaluation department on hand to review students’ transcripts. IWU will not charge for the evaluation or assessment of Harrison credits.

“We are looking forward to welcoming Harrison College students to IWU-National & Global with open arms,” said R. David Rose, vice president for enrollment and marketing for non-residential services. “We will work tirelessly to ensure the transition is as smooth and as efficient as possible for these students.”

IWU-National & Global — a nonprofit, regionally accredited institution — currently has about 10,000 adult students attending classes either online or at one of IWU’s 15 education centers located in Indiana, Kentucky and Ohio. IWU’s online students come from all over the United States as well as other countries.

The university has more than 80 online and onsite degree programs available through its Adult Enrollment Services.

Students who are interested in learning more about IWU’s online or onsite degree programs may begin their evaluation process by calling 1-866-498-4968.

Harrison College, based in Indianapolis, Ind., announced Friday that, 100 years after its founding, it was closing its 11 campus locations in Indiana, Ohio and North Carolina.
