Indiana Wesleyan University will host approximately 1,350 middle school students and their sponsors on May 4-5 for its 2018 Never2Young event, which has accrued the largest number of registrations ever for an IWU youth ministries event. Attendees hail from 89 different churches across the Midwest.
The annual event is designed to prepare and challenge middle school students to make an impact for Christ in their schools, churches and homes. A team of approximately 100 IWU volunteers will help manage the weekend, which will include worship led by Sing Love, a worship group hailing from Northview Church in Indianapolis; sessions with speaker Zach Matchett, the middle school pastor at the Carmel campus of Northview church; and many additional recreational activities. Students and sponsors will stay overnight in residence halls on campus.
“What a dream come true, we had to move out of the Phillippe Performing Arts Center into the Chapel because we ran out of seats!” said Charlie Alcock, professor of Youth Ministry. “Last year some 430 students came forward and made some kind of commitment to trust Jesus. We have been praying for even more in 2018.”
Never2Young follows four weeks after IWU’s Fusion conference, an annual high school youth conference that had nearly 1,000 high school students and their adult sponsors in attendance.
