Indiana Wesleyan University will host a gallery show of new work by Kent Anderson Butler from March 16-April 29, with a reception at 6-8 p.m. on Friday, March 23 in Beard Arts Center in Marion, Indiana. The show is titled “Searching, But No One is Listening.” Butler will give a talk at the reception at 6:15 p.m.
Butler is a Los Angeles-based artist working in a variety of mediums including video installation, performance and photography. He has participated in solo and group exhibitions nationally and internationally including: The International Biennial of Contemporary Art (Venezuela), Coagula Curatorial (CA), Museum of Art and History (PA), Perform Chinatown (CA), The Pasadena Museum of California Art (CA), Fringe Exhibitions (CA), Orange County Museum of Art (CA), Cave Gallery (NY), Photo Miami (FL), Track 16 Gallery (CA), Carl Berg Projects – West Hollywood (CA), Art Center College of Design (CA), and Hunter College (NY). His video work is also in the video art libraries at Pierogi Gallery in Brooklyn, New York, and Fringe Exhibitions.
“The Division of Art+Design at IWU is thrilled to host Kent Anderson Butler, whose emotively complex and thought-provoking work is a catalyst for deepening the ways we understand our faith and our place in community,” said Associate Professor of Art+Design Henrik Soderstrom.
The reception and exhibit at IWU are free and open to the public. The gallery is open from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
