IWU to host inaugural Faculty Scholarship Symposium

Indiana Wesleyan University will host the inaugural Faculty Scholarship Symposium, an event dedicated to promoting creative faculty research, on Wednesday, Nov. 8 through Thursday, Nov. 9 in the Barnes Student Center on IWU’s residential campus in Marion, Indiana. The aim of the symposium is to build the academic community of IWU by celebrating and engaging the scholarly contributions of IWU faculty members in their various fields.

The two-day lineup will feature research presentations from over 20 faculty members. Presenters hail from all academic disciplines, including Biology, Fine Arts, Education Communication, Psychology, Philosophy, Athletic Training and more. All presentations are open to the public and free of charge.

“We have faculty members across IWU doing valuable, interesting, and groundbreaking research and writing,” said Dr. Bart Bruehler, chair of the Scholarship Council and associate professor of New Testament. “However, they usually present and publish their scholarship in other venues. This gives us an opportunity as a Christ-centered, academic community to gather to learn from and worship through the excellent scholarship being done by our faculty.”

Presentations on Wednesday, Nov. 8 will take place from 2:45 – 8:00 p.m., and presentations on Thursday, Nov. 9 will take place from 9:00 a.m.- 12:30 p.m.

IWU plans to make the Faculty Scholarship Symposium an annual event that takes place at the beginning of November each year.
