Jack and Marge Colescott Athletic Scholarships Awarded to Elson, Singer

The 28th annual Jack and Marge Colescott Athletic Scholarship Golf Scramble took place on Thursday, Sept. 14 at Arbor Trace Golf Club. Indiana Wesleyan University seniors Katie Elson and Jacob Singer were presented athletic scholarships during the event.

Elson and Singer each received $2,500 scholarships during the lunch presentation between the morning and evening golf rounds. Jack Colescott presented the awards. Scholarships are presented each year to one female and one male student-athlete who attend Indiana Wesleyan and are Grant County residents.

The annual event has raised over $1 million in athletic scholarships over the 28-year history of the tournament that has become a staple of Indiana Wesleyan athletics. Over 40 Grant County students have been awarded this scholarship over the past 28 years.

“The Colescott Tournament has just become a big part of what we are as an athletic department,” stated IWU Director of Athletics Mark DeMichael. “It represents Jack and Marge Colescott who represents everything others want to be when it comes to class, humility and putting others first. We couldn’t ask for better names to be on this event and this athletic scholarship.”

Elson is a senior Business major that is a setter on the IWU volleyball team. She attended Mississinewa High School. She is a two-time winner of the scholarship after winning it last year. She has not played this season due to injury.

Singer is a senior Business major that plays forward for the Wildcats men’s soccer team. He went to Eastbrook High School. Singer is currently tied for the team lead with three goals and led the Wildcats with seven tallies in 2016.
