Indiana Wesleyan University faculty and students gathered in the Chapel Auditorium Sept. 11-13 to share in IWU’s annual Fall Summit event. Summit is a spiritually centered, three-day event that occurs at the beginning of each semester and creates a time of spiritual renewal. Students have the opportunity to attend six total sessions over the course of three days.
“The goal of Summit is to start each semester by turning our hearts toward God and tuning our minds to his teaching,” said Reverend Dr. John Bray, dean of the chapel. “It is an opportunity to come together and allow God to move us, stretch us and change us.”
This year, the featured speaker was Dwight Robertson, president and founder of Forge, a ministry based in Denver, Colorado, that “exists to expand God’s Kingdom by challenging people to fully devote their lives to God and by equipping them to live lives of active ministry.” Robertson spoke at each of the session on the theme of “YOU Are God’s Plan A”. He expanded on topics such as “Everyday Impact through Practical Kingdom Laborship” and “Intimacy with God as your greatest gift to this world”.
The worship band for summit was comprised of 11 IWU students and was led by Aaron Secaur, a senior Church Music major.
“Dwight Robertson continually called us to ‘a heart on fire and a life on purpose,’” said Bray. “It was great to see so many students respond to the movement of the Holy Spirit in their lives.”
The next Summit will take place on Jan. 17-19, 2018.
