There are times in the life of our IWU campus community when we are jolted back to the reality of how precious life is. I was both surprised and deeply saddened to learn the news this morning that one of our students was involved in a fatal motor vehicle accident yesterday.
Early yesterday afternoon, Logan Nelson, a 21-year-old junior General Studies major from Elkhart, IN, was struck by a pickup truck while riding his motorcycle in Elkhart County. Logan died on the scene from the injuries he suffered in the collision.
On this day as we mourn this tremendous and unexpected loss, I call upon our community to pray for all who knew Logan – that they would feel tremendous comfort through the presence of the Holy Spirit. Pray for Logan’s parents, David and Kimberly. Pray for his brothers, Colton and Nathan, who are both IWU alumni. Pray for Logan’s friends who are also trying to come to terms with this tragedy.
The counseling office in the student center will be open for any students or others in the community who may wish to speak to a counselor.
