The Division of Graduate Counseling at Indiana Wesleyan University will now be offering its Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CMHC) program online, in addition to the CMHC program already offered on the residential campus. The new program is accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling & Related Educational Programs and has an anticipated start-up date of Fall 2017.
CMHC is a licensure track that prepares students to assess and treat individuals, groups, families and organizations within their ecological context. The online program of study will be identical to that of its residential counterpart. Students will complete 60 credit hours of required core and clinical experience courses as well as specialization and elective courses. Upon completion, students will receive a Master of Arts in Counseling with a specialization in CMHC.
“We believe that the onsite program will always be the modality of choice for those students who are seeking the richness of the full graduate school experience with all of the face-to-face mentoring and in-class interactions, assistantships and research opportunities,” said Dr. Mark Gerig, Chair, Division of Graduate Counseling. “The online modality allows our CMHC program to be available to persons for whom such advanced training would not be accessible.”
IWU’s Division of Graduate Counseling recently received two ‘Top 10’ awards for its online programs. GoGrad.com awarded IWU the #9 spot on its “Top Online Master’s in Counseling” list, and BestChoiceSchools.com ranked IWU #10 on its “20 Best Online Schools for Counseling in 2017” list.
