Indiana Wesleyan University is spreading its wings to Atlanta to increase the number of adult students from that region in its non-residential program. Indiana Wesleyan University (IWU) is a private, non-profit, evangelical Christian university based in Marion, Ind., where it has about 3,000 students enrolled in traditional programs on the main campus. However, an additional 11,000 adult learners are enrolled either online or at education centers in Indiana, Kentucky and Ohio.
The university has hired two corporate representatives who will work out of an Atlanta office whose role will be to serve as IWU representatives and help increase online enrollment from the adult student population in the northern Georgia region.
“Through our research, we have identified a need for people in the Atlanta area to have access to a strong, high-quality, faith-based education,” said David Rose, vice president of enrollment and marketing in non-residential programs. “We are investing a great deal of energy and resources in the Atlanta area to be able to provide that to adult students in the area in and around Georgia’s capital city.”
IWU already has close ties to the community. Wesley Seminary at Indiana Wesleyan University has offered classes at 12Stone Church, a congregation of the Wesleyan Church based in Lawrenceville, Ga., with multiple locations in the region. In addition, the Rev. Kevin Myers, pastor at 12Stone Church, is a member of the IWU Board of Trustees.
