The General Board of the Sigma Tau Delta International English Society at its international meeting earlier this month awarded Indiana Wesleyan University’s chapter, Lambda Tau Chapter of Sigma Tau Delta International English Honor Society, a plaque for “30 years of excellence” as a chapter.
“The award of excellence showcases the Division of Modern Language and Literature’s commitment to academic excellence in language, literature, and writing at Indiana Wesleyan University,” said Dr. Mary Alice Trent, co-sponsor of the Lambda Tau Chapter. “And the award allows us to go into every person’s world, as John Wesley reminds us, reflecting the truth and knowledge of Christ.”
Founded in 1986, Lambda Tau seeks to confer distinction for high achievement in English language and literature, provide cultural stimulation on campus, promote interest in literature and the English language in the surrounding communities, promote exemplary character and good fellowship among its members, exhibit high standards of academic excellence, and serve society by fostering literacy.
“I appreciate the recognition for our chapter, and I am grateful for all that we have been able to accomplish this year and in the past,” said Janice Murray, student president of the IWU chapter.
Lambda Tau plans to proudly display the award plaque in the office of Modern Language and Literature.
