Rankings for 2016 released recently by Niche.com, formerly known as College Prowler, awarded Indiana Wesleyan University the No. 1 spot in two different categories: Best College Dorms in Indiana and Best Colleges with No Application Fee in Indiana. IWU collected another No. 1 ranking from Best-Accounting-Schools.com for having the best accounting school in Indiana, surpassing schools such as University of Notre Dame, Purdue University and Indiana University Bloomington.
IWU Accounting students are performing exceptionally well and exceed the national average CPA exam first-time pass rate by nearly 14 percent. The Accounting program is housed in the DeVoe Division of Business on the residential campus. The division has been in existence since 1966, but received its name in 2013 after a $5 million gift was donated by Andrea DeVoe on behalf of her late husband, James, who owned Grant County’s DeVoe Chevrolet and later became the founder of J.D. Byrider.
According to Niche.com, the Best College Dorm ranking is calculated based on key statistics and student reviews. Highest ranked colleges offer outstanding on-campus housing that is safe, clean and offer modern amenities at a reasonable price. Institutions in the top five include Taylor University, Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, Goshen College and Indiana University—Southeast.
The Best Colleges with No Application Fee ranking filters the Best Colleges ranking to only include colleges with free applications. Institutions in the top five include Butler University, University of Evansville, Saint Mary’s College—Indiana and Earlham College.
