IWU Ministry Teams Serve Across the Country

Thirty-four students representing the best of Indiana Wesleyan University's student body are traveling the country in teams this summer offering friendship, service and the blessing of their gifts and talents to churches and youth camps.

The Church Relations Office recruits, trains and sends out a wide variety of music ministry and recreation teams from a large pool of applicants on IWU's main Marion campus. The teams minister at churches, Christian schools, youth retreats, summer camps and special events.

Teams range in size from four-person recreation teams to large ensembles such as the University Chorale and Wind Ensemble. The Chorale's ministry went global this year with a ten-day tour of France and the United Kingdom.

Christian service is an integral part of IWU students' college education. IWU ministry teams provide an opportunity for students to represent Christ and the gospel while maturing in their faith and stewardship.

"IWU students do a lot of excellent things during the summer months," said Dr. Keith Newman, CEO of Residential Education and Executive Vice President. "Some of the jobs and internships we see students land are quite impressive. But hour-for-hour, person-for-person, I can think of few better ways to minister to as many souls as possible in one summer than our ministry team program."
