IWU to Host September Education Conference

Dr. Harry Wong and Dr. Rosemary Wong

Indiana Wesleyan University's School of Educational Leadership is hosting an education conference for Indiana teachers and school leaders on September 17, 2013, featuring keynote speakers Dr. Harry Wong and Dr. Rosemary Wong.

The main sessions of the conference will take place in IWU's Phillippe Performing Arts Center, with breakout sessions throughout campus.

The theme of the conference is "Celebrate Teaching with Passion and Purpose." Dan Shepherd, Director of Advanced Studies for Teacher Leadership, said that the conference is targeted at celebrating the contributions of Indiana's teachers and school leaders, while providing them with critical information designed to improve their efficacy in Indiana's classrooms.

"There are no better persons to do this than Dr. Harry Wong and Dr. Rosemary Wong," Shepherd said. "We are also delighted to have in attendance Indiana State Superintendent of Public Instruction, Glenda Ritz."

The Wongs are world-renowned educators, authors and speakers, known for their book "The First Days of School: How to Be an Effective Teacher." Superintendent Glenda Ritz was elected in November.
