The Quality Matters (QM) program selected the Indiana Wesleyan University Center for Learning and Innovation as the recipient of their 2012 "Making a Difference for Students" Award. Quality Matters is an organization based out of the University of Maryland and is dedicated to raising the quality of online education.
"The QM Awards are given each year to an individual and/or an institution that has made a significant contribution to promote and improve the quality of online education to support student learning during his or her career," according to the QM program website.
The mission of the IWU Center for Learning and Innovation is to work with all of the academic units at IWU to design, develop, revise and deliver technically innovative, high-quality curriculum. The center consults with faculty and oversees design and development for both online and onsite curriculum throughout the university.
IWU received the award at the fourth annual QM Conference on Quality Assurance in Online Learning held in Tucson, Arizona as recognition for the successful implementation of the QM Rubric and quality standards in their course redesigns.
"This award confirms IWU's status as a leader in online education," said Dr. David Wright, Provost. "The Center for Learning and Innovation has a national reputation for pushing the boundaries of higher education curriculum."
