Franz Mohr, who attended Steinway pianos for several legendary musicians, will speak at the 2012 Indiana Wesleyan University Piano Pedagogy Conference on April 13-14 on IWU's presidential campus on Marion.
This is the eigth year that IWU has hosted the conference for professional piano instructors and students.
Euni Rickey, an IWU music professor who teaches piano pedagogy, is the conference director. Kelly Freije, an adjunct piano professor at IWU, is the conference coordinator.
As the chief concert technician for Steinway and Son for 30 years, Mohr was a close colleague of musicians such as Vladimir Horowitz, Arthur Rubenstein, Glenn Gould and Rudolf Serkin. Mohr now works as an advisor and consultant to Steinway.
Mohr will speak at two conference sessions on April 13. Meridian Music Company of Carmel, a Steinway dealer, arranged Mohr's visit to IWU.
Sam Holland, who is both a teacher and performer, will be the other featured speaker for the two-day conference. He is director of the Division of Music at the Meadows School of the Arts, Southern Methodist University, and has presented hundreds of lectures and recitals throughout North America.
