An integrative and collaborative week-long music intensive held on the Marion, Indiana campus of Indiana Wesleyan University.

The Indiana Wesleyan University Division of Music is excited to announce its third-annual Summer Music Camp! This camp is designed for singers and instrumentalists at the high school level who are hoping to hone their musical skills in an encouraging and collaborative environment. This week-long camp will culminate in a final concert on Friday night. The large ensemble, comprised of every camper either playing in the orchestra or singing in the choir, will perform music of various styles and time periods.

During the week campers can expect to spend a great amount of time in large ensemble rehearsals, and small/chamber ensemble rehearsals. Every camper will be in either the large chorus or the large orchestra, and will also be a part of a small ensemble. The small ensembles will range from string quartets to chamber choir; these ensembles will be assembled based on enrollment. Campers who excel at more than one instrument are encouraged to diversify their ensembles (e.g. sing in the large chorus and play trumpet in a chamber ensemble).

Outside of rehearsals, campers will also have the opportunity for classroom-style learning by Indiana Wesleyan University music faculty. The classes may range from music theory and ear training, to music history, conducting, or even composition.

Campers are encouraged to sign up for private lessons during their time at the camp. Private lessons will be taught by many of our IWU music faculty. Campers may choose between several different options for lesson-structure on most major instruments. (N.B. Private study is an additional cost.) Please contact the Music camp director, Master Davy Chinn at davy.chinn@indwes.edu, for more details.

This camp is a residential camp, meaning that students will stay in residence halls on campus, eat meals in Baldwin Dining Hall, and remain on campus for the duration of the week. Meals, lodging, and all major activities are included in the overall cost of the camp.
