IWU Summer Art + Design Camp
An integrative and collaborative week-long art intensive held on the Marion, Indiana campus of Indiana Wesleyan University.
This year our Wildcat Summer Academy Art+Design camp will take place in the Beard Arts Center on IWU’s campus while Center Hall (our second studio building) is undergoing some exciting renovations. We will work in a variety of media from drawing a painting to digital illustration, graphic design, print media, and sculptural forms.
REGISTRATION
Total Registration Cost: $500
- Base Cost: $450
- Registration Fee (non-refundable): $50
For students entering 9th grade to graduating seniors.
Cost includes resident hall lodging, three meals a day, snacks, and all major aspects of the camp. Our dining hall has many options for those with food allergies. However, we encourage you to bring appropriate snacks since not all snack options will meet all dietary needs.
Note: The $50 non-refundable registration fee is due at the time of registration. No student will be considered registered until they have submitted this fee. Balance of tuition and fees are due by May 31, 2024. Any registrations after June 1, 2024 will incur an additional $50 late registration fee.
MEET THE CAMP DIRECTORS
Henrik Soderstrom, MFA
Henrik Soderstrom is an artist, designer, and idea enthusiast. Raised in Rochester, New York by an exuberant Californian and a Swedish visionary, he grew up sanding historic floorboards and eating green peppers like apples from the vegetable garden.
After absorbing inspiration and general excitement about life at the Rhode Island School of Design, he went on to work with Yo-Yo Ma’s Silk Road Project, designing the set for their production of Leyli & Majnun, which opened in 2009 at the Lincoln Center in New York, and creating album artwork for their Grammy-nominated recording Off the Map
Henrik has enjoyed collaborating with the Society for Freshwater Science, the Music of Difference Project (designing the artwork for their Grammy-nominated album), the Knights Orchestra, the Attacca Quartet, Thomas Warfield, and FuturPointe dance to produce shows and performances. He has been an artist-in-residence with I-Park Enclave, Stonecry, and the Julia and David White Artist Colony, and the Roger Tory Peterson Institute, and now lives in Indiana with his brilliant wife Dottie, where they both teach at Indiana Wesleyan University.
Keith Lowe, MFA
Born in Marion, Indiana, Keith Lowe is an illustrator, educator, and designer and has been a part of the gaming industry for over 15 years. As a Senior Designer for BradyGames, he designed books and limited edition products for AAA clients including Microsoft, Nintendo, Sony, Bungie, Blizzard, and Activision.
He is also formerly the Art Director for MegaCon Games, an indie publisher of board and tabletop games. During his time there he created hundreds of illustrations for packaging, cards, and components of several popular board game titles, including Myth, MERCS, and Emergence Event.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Illustration and Graphic Design from Indiana Wesleyan University and a Master of Fine Arts in Illustration from the University of Hartford. He has taught adjunct numerous courses in illustration and depiction at Butler University, the Indianapolis Art Center, and his alma mater IWU.
