The professional license is valid for 10 years. All subsequent renewals of the professional license will also be for 10-year terms. The IDOE general guideline says that if your license is valid on the first day of your school contract, it is valid for the entire school year without penalty. Individual school systems are not required to follow that guideline and might have stricter regulations.
