Tuition and fees for prerequisites and required elective courses are in addition to the charges shown on the program cost sheet. Your tuition rate will remain the same as long as you remain continuously enrolled in the same program. REQUIREMENTS

  • Associate Degree in nursing from a college or university accredited by an agency recognized by both the U.S. Department of Education (ED) and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and national nursing programmatic accreditation (ACEN, CNEA). Up to 60 credits may be transferred from an accredited associate degree program.
  • A grade-point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale from the associate degree-granting college or university.
  • Proof that all nursing licenses - whether current or inactive - are unencumbered. Potential students with encumbered nursing licenses will not be considered eligible for enrollment at Indiana Wesleyan University.
  • All applicants must provide three letters of professional reference. References should be from faculty members, professional colleagues, work supervisors, or a pastor who can evaluate the applicant's potential for success in a graduate program. Recommendations from family members are NOT appropriate. These letters should be solicited from professionals who can address the applicant's qualifications for the MSN programs.
  • Original transcript from the degree-granting institution.
  • At least one year of professional practice.
  • A criminal history background check (at the student's expense) must be completed before registration for any track of the masters nursing program. Letters of acceptance from the Division of Masters Nursing will include instructions for completing the criminal background check. The criminal background check must be completed no earlier than two weeks before the beginning of the first course.
  • To assist in the decision-making process, the Division of Masters Nursing reserves the right to require the applicant to interview

  • Completion of all undergraduate and MSN requirements for the specific program major.
  • Met the minimum grade requirement for each course.
  • Cumulative grade-point average of 3.00 or higher.
  • Program must be completed within a maximum of five years from the date of enrollment.
  • All financial obligations must be settled in order to receive a diploma.

Practicum

Practice is an essential component of the graduate nursing program. Practicum courses offer students the opportunity to develop and integrate the knowledge and skills necessary for evidence-based advanced practice. If required by the facility, cost for placement is the responsibility of the student.

  • Students in the Nursing Education program must complete a minimum of 175 hours of supervised online and onsite practicums.
  • Students must maintain an active license in the state where practicum requirements are completed.
  • All RN licenses must remain unencumbered throughout the program.

NOTE: Students in any nursing major may be required to undergo drug testing in order to successfully complete practicum requirements. Students must meet the health requirements of the facility where practicum hours are completed.
