The Ohio Teaching Certificate - Exceptional Learners Mild Intervention program provides an 18-credit-hour post-baccalaureate course of study for teachers seeking to obtain an Ohio's mild intervention (i.e., special education) license to serve the mild/moderate special needs student population. Candidates completing the 18-credit-hour Ohio alternative teacher certification program gain content and pedagogical content knowledge related to professional teaching standards for serving students with mild/moderate special needs as an intervention specialist. Upon successful completion of all online teaching certificate course work and the state-required licensure examination, Ohio alternative teaching certification candidates are eligible to begin their professional journey, become a teacher in Ohio with a P-12 mild intervention teaching license.
