We’ve partnered with an incredible organization called Ascend Indiana, which is completely dedicated to helping students like you get connected with entry-level jobs and internships in Indiana.
So, what exactly is Ascend?
Funded by the Lilly Endowment, Ascend Indiana creates pathways between educational institutions (like us) and Indiana employers to identify jobs and internships for students of all majors. It’s pretty great.

- Partner - Build partnerships with Indiana employers. They’re currently working with 400 employers!
- Identify - Collaborate with career services to identify and meet with students 1:1 to understand their skills, experiences, and interests
- Connect - Help students to find and apply for the right opportunities through their online platform
How does it work?
Through Ascend’s online platfom, you’ll receive career trajectory mentorship from the beginning of your job search process all the way through to the end.
To give you an idea of what to expect, here’s a step-by-step summary of the process you’ll go through with Ascend:
- Before getting started, you’ll need to update your resumé and practice your interviewing skills to prepare for your Ascend 1-to-1 meeting. Don’t forget to utilize the IWU career services portal for assistance in either of these areas!
- Sign up for an account on the Ascend Indiana Portal using this link: https://bit.ly/ascendiwung. Upload your resumé and fill out your general information.
- You’ll receive follow-up from an Ascend team member within 2 days of signing up, so be on the lookout for a 1-to-1 meeting invite. In the meantime, watch this video to prepare for your meeting.
- Have your 1-to-1 meeting! During this 30-minute phone call, your Ascend recruiter will interview you and give you an overview of Ascend. At the end of the call, you’ll be provided with valuable interview feedback/tips and more.
- After the meeting, you’ll receive a follow-up email. Follow the instructions to sign up on the Ascend network, which is similar to LinkedIn.
- Search & apply for jobs on the network. Your Ascend career coach will support you along the way.
