Andy Crouch Speaks At IWU
Mr. Andy Crouch will be the guest speaker for Indiana Wesleyan's Athens and Jerusalem Seminar on Wednesday, November 7, from 4:00-5:00 pm in the Globe Theatre of the Barnes Student Center. Mr. Crouch will address the topic of his recent book, Culture Making: Recovering Our Creative Calling.
Mr. Crouch earned his Master of Divinity from Boston University School of Theology following a bachelor's degree from Cornell University. He served as a campus minister on Harvard's campus for ten years with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship. In 2011 he began serving as the special assistant to the president of Christianity Today International, where he is the executive producer of This is Our City, a multi-year project featuring documentary video, reporting and essays about Christians seeking the flourishing of their cities. Mr. Crouch is also the executive producer of Where Faith and Culture Meet, a series of short documentary films on Christians creating "a counterculture for the common good." He is a member of the editorial board of Books & Culture and a senior fellow of the International Justice Missions Institute.
In Culture Making: Recovering Our Creative Calling, Mr. Crouch unleashes a stirring manifesto calling Christians to be "culture makers." Addressing Christians who have had an insufficient view of culture and have waged misguided "culture wars," Mr. Crouch challenges them to reclaim the cultural mandate to be the creative cultivators that God intended. He unpacks the complexities of how culture works and shares tools for cultivating and creating culture. Through biblical exposition, Mr. Crouch demonstrates that creating culture is fundamental to the whole scriptural narrative, the ministry of Jesus and the call to the church.
