Biography

Dr. Murray has experience and expertise in the areas of Curriculum development, Graduate and Undergraduate Education, Leadership, Administration, Critical Care Nursing. and Informatics.  Nancy is a Professor in the Graduate Nursing Division of the School of Nursing. She primarily teaches students pursuing a Master degree in Nursing Administration (NRA) and a dual Master degree in Nursing and Business (MBNO).  She has taught nursing for 20 + years for on- site BSN programs, RNBSN programs, and on-line Graduate programs.  She has also served as an on-line curriculum coordinator for IWU in Graduate Nursing.  

In the past, Dr. Murray worked as a staff nurse and as a critical care educator for 15+ years in open heart, cardiology, neurology, and general Intensive Care Units.  She has held a position as a nurse informaticist for a large hospital system for 5 years. 

Dr. Murray has Leadership skills gained via positions of Heart Center Director and as a Patient Access Director for large hospital systems.  As Heart Center Director, Dr. Murray had oversight for cardiac cath labs, cardiac rehab. cardiac testing and procedures  and community cardiac education.   In the patient access director position, she oversaw the employees and processes for patient registrations, financial counseling, and Emergency room admissions.  She also initiated a physician call center to expedite patient admissions.

Dr. Murray's most important priority in life is that Jesus Christ is the Lord of her life. Her favorite Scripture verse is Romans 12:1-2. She desires to have her life transformed daily by God's renewal of her mind

Interests

Nancy’s  research interests include curriculum development, learning strategies of nursing students, organizational behavior, creative teaching methods, and online learning.

Nancy is happily married to her best friend and soul mate, Doug.   They reside in MO.  Within the community, Nancy enjoys being a trek coach weekly mentoring an elementary child in reading and math.   She attends St. Paul’s United Methodist Church and is involved in a Wednesday night Bible Study course and a women’s Bible study on Tuesday mornings. 

Nancy favorite past times are cheering for her NFL teams: Indianapolis Colts and Denver Broncos.  She adopted Denver as a favorite Team when her favorite Quarter back, Peyton Manning was signed.     She also cheers for the KC Chiefs (her husband’s team) when they are not playing Denver or Indy.  She also loves watching College Football.  Being an Oklahoma girl, she is passionate about the Oklahoma Sooners. Other hobbies include listening to books and playing games with family.
