 Curriculum Vitae

Dr. Mark Smith has taught teaches European history, with classes on the Middle Ages, Renaissance and Reformation, Russian History, and World War II, as well as a popular class on the History of Baseball. He has been married since 1974 to Terri (Rutherford); they have two daughters, Bethany and Erin, and four grandchildren, Brady, Halle and Sloan, and Blair.

Dr. Smith loves to watch and talk about sports. He and Terri are also avid fans of British murder mysteries. His current research interests include Christian views on war and the respective attitudes of Protestants and Catholics regarding the playing of professional baseball on Sunday. While his reading often takes him to exotic places such as a medieval monastery or a sixteenth-century pulpit, if you have difficulty finding him for extended periods of time, you might just begin by looking in Middle Earth or Narnia.
