Biography
Dr. Marcia Shea joined Indiana Wesleyan University in August of 2017 as an assistant professor and transitioned into the position of academic fieldwork coordinator in January of 2018. Marcia was born and raised in Indiana and received her Associates in Occupational Therapy and Bachelors in Health Services from the University of Southern Indiana.
Following her undergraduate studies, she worked as a COTA through graduate school at the University of Toledo, where she completed her Doctorate in Occupational Therapy and a certificate in Contemporary Gerontological Practice. Following graduating as an OTD, she moved to Texas where she worked in inpatient rehab and home healthcare.
In 2016, Marcia returned to Indiana and worked in inpatient rehab and acute care at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. She has also worked prn at skilled nursing facilities and in home healthcare and currently spends one day a week in the clinic, working with geriatric clients in skilled nursing facilities. Marcia’s professional interests include the use of OT in hospice, safe patient handling, and fall prevention. She enjoys spending time with her husband and two children and her interests include traveling, running, and cooking.
