Biography

John Gotsis has accumulated years of professional experience as a performer and music educator. Currently residing in Fishers, IN, John serves as Owner and Music Instructor at Vibe Music Academy, as well as Adjunct Professor of Music at Indiana Wesleyan University.

After receiving a bachelor's degree in Music Education from IWU in 2012, John and his wife moved to Lansing, MI where he began teaching and working on his master's degree in Jazz Studies at Michigan State University. During his time in Michigan, John achieved a high level of success academically and professionally. He earned the position of MSU Jazz Drum Set Graduate Assistant under the renown Professor Randy Gelispie; he played and toured with MSU's premier jazz orchestra; he gigged professionally for numerous performance groups, including Detroit-based funk band 7Layers and the Olin Clark Jazz Trio; and he taught over fifty cumulative students both privately and at local schools.

Select musicians that John has performed with include Christian McBride, Peter Bernstein, Rodney Whitaker, Xavier Davis, Etienne Charles, Reggie Thomas, Diego Rivera, Michael Dease, Robin Eubanks, Randy Napoleon, Jerry Tachoir, Bernard Woma, and Nebojsa Zivkovic.
