Biography

Dr. Coopman worked in Indiana public schools for 38 years as a teacher/coach, assistant principal, principal, assistant superintendent and superintendent. He has served children in small/rural, medium/suburban and large/urban school districts in these roles. He was also an adjunct professor for Ball State University for 11 years in educational leadership. Following retirement from Indiana public school leadership, he joined the Indiana Wesleyan School of Educational Leadership faculty as an associate professor in 2011. Dr. Coopman is married to Susie, a retired family and children's therapist, and they have two children, Alexa, going to medical school in South Carolina, and Tyler, a musician living in Austin, Texas. He and his family enjoy all outdoor activities including hiking, boating, bicycling and gardening. In addition to reading leadership books, he enjoys suspense novels.
