Dr. Haydee Encarnación Garcia joined Indiana Wesleyan University in 2015 as the Program Director and Associate Professor for the Graduate Program in Public Health.
Previously, Dr. Encarnación Garcia served as Dean and Associate Professor of the School of Health Sciences at the Sistema Universitario Ana G. Mendez in Puerto Rico.
During her tenure as Public Health Analyst (2004-2013) for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS)-Chicago Regional Office, she was assigned as a state leader for Indiana and Ohio, and oversaw Hispanic community-based programs in the Chicago area. Dr. Encarnación Garcia served as HHS’s regional liaison collaborating directly with statewide stakeholders, such as the State’s Primary Care Offices.
She worked as a Research Associate, Instructor, and Community Prevention Specialist at the Applied Health Science Department of the School of Health, Physical Education, and Recreation at Indiana University. Dr. Encarnación Garcia served as Program Director and Assistant Professor at the Medical Sciences Campus of the University of Puerto Rico (1989-1997). Dr. Encarnación Garcia is a Certified Health Educator Specialist (CHES) and a member of several grassroots community-based and professional organizations which seek to empower individuals by facilitating their access to educational, health, social, and community services. She currently serves on numerous diversity and inclusion committees at the university level, as well as being part of the Peer Corps of the Higher Learning Commission.Degrees
