 Curriculum Vitae

The Rev. Dr. Constance Cherry has developed the Christian Worship department at Indiana Wesleyan University from the ground up since 2004. Among the very first Christian universities to offer a major in worship, under her leadership the department has blossomed into offering four unique worship programs each with its own special concentration. Over the years, the programs under Cherry’s leadership have become an award-winning, recognized standard in the academy.

Constance has extensive experience in full-time local church ministry as both director of music and worship, and pastor. She is a founding faculty member of The Robert E. Webber Institute for Worship Studies where she continues to teach in the Doctor of Worship Studies program since 2000. She travels extensively to speak nationally and internationally, is a published composer, and is the author of five books. Her first book, The Worship Architect: A Blueprint for Designing Culturally Relevant and Biblically Faithful Services (Baker Academic, 2010), has been used as a required text at more than 150 institutions of higher education worldwide and is available in five languages.

Constance Cherry enjoys traveling, composing music, writing song lyrics, playing the piano, and hanging out with family and friends. She is a native of Michigan and enjoys watching Michigan Big Ten teams play football and basketball. Constance especially loves serving as the pastor of a small United Methodist congregation near the IWU campus.
