Dr. André Fonteles joined Indiana Wesleyan University's Division of Mathematics and Computer Information Sciences in 2018. After being blessed with a scholarship from the French Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, he spent 5 years in France where he obtained his doctoral degree in Computer Science from Université Grenoble-Alpes; Dr. Fonteles also worked as a full-time lecturer and researcher for one year at the university. He spent another six months as a post-doctoral researcher at Université de Pau et Pays de l’Adour.
His technical and research interests include recommender systems, context-sensitiveness, software adaptation, mobile computing and app development. His experience in Computer Science focuses on crowdsourcing systems, mobile and context-aware applications and recommender systems. Dr. Fonteles is independent app developer who has had his apps downloaded by users more than 500,000 times.
Originally from Brazil, Dr. Fonteles now resides in Indiana. He loves to spend his time deepening his relationship with Jesus and meditating in His words. He also enjoys learning new languages, playing computer games and studying theology.
