BIOGRAPHY

Dr. Almarie E. Donaldson is an Associate Professor in the Ph.D. program in the Department of Leadership Studies. She has over two decades in leadership research, teaching and consulting.  She has held prestigious appointments as a USAID Subject Matter Expert, Consultant and Global Scholar for the Global Leadership Initiative (GLI), and as a Fulbright Senior Scholar in Global Leadership Studies at The Chinese University of Hong Kong. She is an invited scholar and investigator for the GLOBE study, and a lecturer on special global and international leadership topics for various universities across the globe. Her work has been published in the "Political and Civic Leadership: A Reference Handbook," Journal of International Business Studies, Journal of Soft Skills, and the Academy of Management Perspectives, among others. She is currently co-authoring two books on topics related to global leadership.  She is deeply invested across the globe in serving underrepresented communities with leadership and community development programs. 

RESEARCH INTERESTS

Dr. Donaldson’s research interests include cross-cultural leadership, women in a leadership role, global leadership, global leadership competencies, executive teams, top management teams, and organizational performance. She has expertise in areas of cross-cultural leadership theory and research in Latin America and Asia. She is currently a Country Co-Investigator (CCI) with the GLOBE study.  Her current book projects will provide further support and understanding for areas on international leadership research and global leadership. She is committed to the academic body of research in leadership topics for Asia and Ibero-America.

PERSONAL INTERESTS

She resides in Chesapeake, Virginia with her two adopted daughters from China, Hannah and Mia.  Dr. Donaldson is classically trained on the piano and flute.  She is a lyrical singer and participates in music projects across the globe.  She enjoys travel, eating interesting foods, speaking and lecturing across the globe, and enjoying time with family in Antigua, Guatemala. She is an avid writer for Christian magazines that publish both in English and Spanish.  She is very passionate about ministering to orphans and is always seeking opportunities to serve local communities in education development projects. Her heart and life are truly global!
