Biography

Dr. Blake Neff is an experienced lecturer, pastor and author. He’s held a variety of teaching and administrative positions in Christian higher education. In addition, he served as a local church pastor for 32 years.

Dr. Neff has published seven books through traditional publishers, one of which is used as curriculum in IWU’s Principles of Communication Course. A variety of ministries use his workbook, Beginning Again: Ten Weeks to Dynamic Discipleship, where new believers grow their Christian faith.

Throughout the eastern half of the United States, Dr. Neff is in frequent demand as a conference speaker and pulpit preacher.

Why did you decide to teach at IWU?

For more than 30 years, I pastored a variety of churches in Indiana, Ohio and Georgia. I always found myself migrating toward college and university campuses in my spare time, and I frequently served as an adjunct at those institutions. When Dr. Bud Bence, the former dean at IWU, invited me to a full-time teaching ministry, I was eager to make it work. Today, even as a retiree from pastoral ministry, I delight in classroom ministry and that the Lord has called me to serve at Indiana Wesleyan University.

Hobbies:

In my free time, I’m an avid reader. I enjoy new titles in my field of study, biographies of great Americans and novels. I’ve also written seven books published by traditional publishers. Believing that God has gifted me in teaching, I frequently accept opportunities to teach in local churches, camp meetings and small groups.

Advice for a prospective student:

Jesus’ words, “Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you” (Matthew 6:33, NKJV) prove to be great advice whenever we encounter the transitions of life.
