Adjunct of the Month: Dr. Misty Resendez
Biography
Dr. Misty Resendez says she is passionate about providing guidance and direction to others. She is a licensed clinical addictions counselor and manages five programs in five locations. She is responsible for program development, sustainability, growth, and hires, trains, and develops staff at each program. In addition, she is also a licensed domestic violence facilitator. She facilitates anger management and domestic violence programs for court order offenders.
After obtaining her bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Indiana University, Fort Wayne, she trained foster parents preparing them to take in foster children, developed and implemented programs for foster children aging out of the system, and casework for child protective services.
She received her master’s degree in business management from Indiana Wesleyan University, Fort Wayne, during which time she worked as a Probation Officer for Allen County, where her focus was on Spanish-speaking offenders and felony alcohol related offenders.
In 2006, Dr. Resendez moved to Indianapolis. She worked with Probation for a little while before moving on to Addiction Counseling. She received her doctorate in organizational leadership from Indiana Wesleyan University. She has presented at several academic leadership conferences around the topic of leadership and intercultural competence.
Born and raised in East Chicago, Dr. Resendez now resides in Indianapolis. She is a mother of three and is fluent in Spanish. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, listening to live music, and exploring cultural arts. She also enjoys watching independent films at various film festivals.
