The Classroom Experience
Adult students are sometimes uncertain about returning to school. Indiana Wesleyan University can help you reach your educational and professional goals without sacrificing your career or personal priorities. Convenience and relevance are two cornerstones of our effective Adult Education Programs.
Your time is precious, and the demands on it are ever-increasing. That's why you will register only once for all courses in your program. For most of our programs, textbooks and materials are delivered directly to your home. Accelerated classes meet once a week at a convenient time and location. Library support is available online or by phone or fax. Our collaborative model of education and dedicated faculty make learning enjoyable. And most programs offer financial aid for students who qualify.
Registration
With Indiana Wesleyan University, you register for all classes in your core program at one time. Prior to starting your coursework, you will receive a calendar that shows the dates for each class. You don't have to worry that a course won't be available when you need it because all of the classes in your program are mapped out for you in order.
Books
As a busy adult, you don't have time to purchase textbooks at a bookstore. For most of our programs, IWU delivers books, ebooks and course materials directly to you, and is included in the total cost of the program.
Accelerated
Completing a degree can be a long and slow process in a traditional academic program. At IWU, your educational goals become a quick reality. We recognize that your maturity and professional success will allow you to achieve your dreams at an accelerated rate. You will take courses sequentially, one at a time, meeting once a week, usually completing a course in about eight weeks. Classes are structured to enhance the learning of new material and at the same time build upon your life and professional experiences. You may be able to finish your program in half the time that would be required in a traditional campus setting.
Locations
Our commitment to making college attendance convenient is a major reason why Indiana Wesleyan University has become one of the fastest-growing universities in the nation. We have created a system where students do not have to leave their local community and travel for hours to attend classes. Most of our programs can be completed at one of IWU's multiple Education Centers or learning sites throughout Indiana, Kentucky and Ohio. Many of our onsite (classroom-based) programs utilize computer technology similar to that which is used in our online programs.
Library Services
IWU's Off-Campus Library Services brings a wealth of resources to you right where you live. An extensive network of textbooks, journals, professional publications, databases, and electronic materials are made available to you by phone and Internet so that your research needs are met in an efficient and timely manner. The OCLS staff will assist you in finding and assessing the information that you need and will mail books and copies of documents that are not accessible electronically.
Collaboration
Throughout your studies you will be part of a small, supportive team of adult learners who will stick with you in your pursuit of your educational goals. Our faculty members are facilitators rather than lecturers, and they know that adults learn best in an interactive format with heavy emphasis on the practical application of their learning. In your classes, you will gain from the experiences of other adult professionals. This type of collaborative learning leads to graduation rates that are much higher than other schools.
Expert Faculty
At Indiana Wesleyan University, you will find Christian faculty whose academic qualifications and workplace experiences equip them to provide each adult learner with a stimulating learning environment. The personal experience of these instructors, combined with the varied work backgrounds of your fellow students, creates a rich learning environment. The things you learn through the course materials and class discussions can be immediately applied to your work. Your critical thinking and decision-making skills will also be enhanced as you analyze and discuss real-world examples.
Financial Aid
An education at Indiana Wesleyan University is affordable! Our Financial Aid staff is ready to assist you in working out the financial details of your program. Our coursework meets Department of Education guidelines, and based upon your income level, you may be eligible for state and federal grants. You may also qualify for loans, scholarships, veterans benefits, or employer reimbursement.
