If you currently hold a bachelor's degree in another field from an accredited institution of higher learning and are interested in becoming a nurse, then the Indiana Wesleyan University Transition to Nursing program is for you! This accelerated program offers you the opportunity to become a nurse in approximately 14 months. 

The course of study requires 64 credit hours of nursing coursework and leads to a BSN. The classes are designed to provide a sound foundation in nursing skills and dispositions and include leadership and nursing research in the clinical setting. This program also provides the foundation for the pursuit of graduate-level education.

This second-degree nursing program takes advantage of your academic track record and builds upon your past experiences. Transition to Nursing at IWU provides a realistic transition to the nursing profession in an expedited manner. Due to the rigorous nature of the program, students are strongly encouraged to not have outside employment while enrolled.

This program is available at the beautiful IWU-Marion campus.

Admission Requirements & Prerequisites

  • Previous baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited institution with a GPA of 2.75 or above
  • TEAS (Test of Essential Academic Skills) with a cumulative score of at least 65; it is highly recommended that all four categories score a minimum of 65
  • Anatomy and Physiology I
  • Anatomy and Physiology II
  • Microbiology
  • Chemistry
  • College algebra or higher-level math course

Science prerequisites must include onsite labs. Each prerequisite course must be completed with a minimum grade of "C".

These represent the minimum requirements needed for admission to the program and are not a guarantee of acceptance. The admission process is competitive and an interview may be required.
